1. FindWhat and Espotting announce merger
====================================

In a flurry of press releases and newsletters from Espotting and FindWhat, it was announced on June 18 that the two would merge.

The deal will see Espotting stockholders receive approximately 8.1 million FindWhat shares and $27 million in cash. At FindWhat's closing share price on June 17, the transaction values Espotting at around $163 million.

Though the wheels are in motion FindWhat said that it will take several months for any changes to occur.

What changes should you expect specifically? Apart from the obvious advantages such as being able to target a broader geographical market with the addition of Espotting's European traffic, I'm not quite sure what it will mean.

I'm sure more details will become available over the coming months. The merger is expected to close in the 4th quarter of this year.

Here is a copy of the Traffic Builder newsletter from FindWhat that answers a few questions regarding the merger.

Judging by early experiments, Google's AdSense
- now being displayed on small web sites - is going
to shake up the ad networks and speed up the

2. Overture's Content Matching and European adventures
==============================================

Overture has implemented "Content Matching" apparently in response to its advertisers asking for more traffic.

It says Content Match will roll out today, June 27, with listings appearing on content pages of MSN as well as other leading content sites.

A good move sees Overture include separate reporting for Content Match as well as the ability to opt out of receiving any Content Match traffic. This gives advertisers the chance to test it and see the results separately and to stop receiving this traffic if they wish.

Overture will also be offering a discount of 20% to Content Match clicks in its U.S. marketplace through to September 24 (90 days). It says, "This will give you an extended period of time to try the product and determine how many additional leads it generates for you."

Overture Europe.

Overture confirmed this month that it would be moving into Scandinavia later this year. It also says that it will open up shop in Austria, the Netherlands, Spain and Switzerland following the most recent addition of Overture Italy.

3. Search123 acquired by ValueClick
==============================

Search123, a privately held company based in California, has been acquired by ValueClick.

In the deal ValueClick paid approximately $5 million for Search123 which included approximately $3.3 million in cash. It says Search123 will survive as a wholly-owned subsidiary of ValueClick because the transaction was structured as a merger.
