1. Overture news: Lycos, Excite, Webcrawler and AOL
===================================================
Overture on Lycos.
Your top 4 listings at Overture will now appear on a search
results page at Lycos. The top 3 listings will be displayed at
the top of the page under a 'Sponsored Search Listings' heading.
The 4th listing will appear in various places on the search
results page next to a link entitled 'Start Here.' A further 10
Overture results are available when the user clicks a 'More'
link.
As well as this, the top 5 Overture listings will appear in the
'Sponsored Search Listings' section of the Web Site Directory.
Overture on Excite and Webcrawler
Excite and Webcrawler now display the top 5 Overture results for
all search terms. This is also the case when searchers use the
Excite and Webcrawler Directory.
Overture NOT on AOL
As I'm sure most of you will already know, your Overture listings
are no longer a feature of the search results on AOL.
Google won a 3 year contract with AOL to replace Overture as the
supplier of sponsored listings.
Did you notice a drop in traffic from your top 3 Overture
listings since this change took place?
Did you notice a rise in traffic from your top 3 Google AdWords
listings since this change took place? I'd be interested to know.

2. Espotting approves 3rd party tools and offers bonus
======================================================
Espotting has approved 3 3rd party account management tools. The
three providers of the tools, Web Site Promotion Services Ltd,
GoToast and PPCBidTracker apparently all underwent 3 months of
rigorous testing by Espotting. Only these providers will be
allowed access to Espotting's system.
Espotting is launching its service in Spain in a few days and it
is offering a special to all UK advertisers.
If you list your site with Espotting Spain before the end of
June, you will be entitled to receive a 100% bonus on top of your
initial deposit. Add 50, get another 50. Add 1,000, get another
1,000 free.
This offer is valid up to the value of 1,000 Euros.
Espotting is also available to help translate your titles,
keywords and descriptions.

3. Changes at Kanoodle to affect advertisers
============================================
Kanoodle is to make 2 major changes starting on June 3.
The first change is to be that all new keywords will be screened
for relevancy. Not much unlike what Overture and FindWhat are
already doing.
The other change is to be, "the joining of popular search terms
with common variations."
These are the examples of keywords that will be considered the
same, according to an email from Kanoodle.
Singular and plural versions of the same keyword, (game == games)
terms that appear reverse order, (online casino == casino online)
combining or separating words, (screensaver == screen saver)
and common misspellings. (britney spears == brittany spears)
I think this move will make it easier for advertisers who bid on
many different forms of a word simply because they will no longer
have to do that. (eg. game, games, gaem, gaems, etc.)
I also think that advertisers may be worse off in the long run
because of the same reason. The same advertisers will be losing
keywords that would normally be relatively cheap.
It's good to finally see that Kanoodle is checking keywords for
relevancy now. Let's hope it doesn't eventually become too hard
to get keywords approved, though.

4. Special Offer: Free traffic from Turbo10 and IQSeek
======================================================
Turbo10 is a UK based pay per click search engine run by
Australians. My admiration goes out to them for being able to
stand the weather over there. ;)
It is offering a 20% bonus on top of your deposit when you sign
up for a new account using this URL.

For more details or information about Turbo10, contact Megan
Hamilton here: megan@turbo10.com.
IQSeek is a well established pay per click search engine that I
have dealt with successfully a lot in the past and hope to
continue doing so in the future.
It is offering to double the deposits of all new accounts who
sign up with "ppc2002" at the beginning of their account name.
For example, I would sign up using the name: ppc2002nathan.

5. SES conference in Sydney
===========================
I will be heading down to Sydney (only a 1 hour flight for me ;)
for Danny Sullivan's Search Engine Strategies conference in just
over a week.
It's still not too late to register to hear speakers such as
Detlev Johnson, Heather Lloyd Martin and of course Danny
Sullivan.
If anyone is attending or will be in Sydney during those couple
of days and is interested in having a chat over a drink, let me
know.
