Microsoft adCenter
Category: Top 10 PPC Search Engines
Title: Microsoft adCenter
Url: http://advertising.msn.com/microsoft-adcenter
Description: Microsoft adCenter provides plenty of information for the new advertiser. In fact, there's so much help available that you can get swamped working through it.

It includes all the features you'd expect in a major pay per click search engine. The interface is clean and very user friendly.

Setting up a new a campaign is easy, and AdCenter gives you a full range of options. There is a god keyword research tool which allows gives you the past month's searches on your chosen term and other relevant keywords and also gives you the current month's traffic for those keywords. This keyword tool also allows you to display each keyword in charts showing trends on time of traffic, gender, lifestyle and geotargeted information. Be careful! I had so much fun playing with the charts that I almost forgot I was supposed to be working.

Microsoft adCenter provides several options to help you improve ad exposure. If you want to increase the chance that a certain segment of your audience will be shown your ad, you can adjust these variables:

  • Geographical location
  • Day of the week
  • Time of day (morning, afternoon, or night)
  • Age and gender
The reporting features are very good, and you're able to obtain reports based on a number of different variables.

Microsoft adCenter provides a number of specific campaign pricing options, including base bid (The lowest bid amount that you define for a specific match type. All advanced bidding is in addition to the base bid.), cost per click (a pricing plan in which charges accrue only as the advertiser's ads are clicked. The cost-per-click rate is predetermined by negotiations between the advertiser and MSN.; average position (A paid ad's placement on the search results page. For example, the top spot on the page is called position 1. This and all other positions are determined by the ad's rank, which in turn is determined by relevance.); and monthly spend (The amount of funds expended during a specific period.). Overall, undoubtedly Microsoft adCenter is going to be a very important pay per click search engine. There are still a few bugs to be ironed out, but with a new product like this that's only to be expected.

Hi Less crappy traffic than Google or the others, real traffic from real surfers, I pay about .08 cents per click and get good traffic. I recommend it. Graham www.gr1innovations.com

I would rather go to the DMV and try to negioate rates that deal with their interface. It is very frustrating and will ware out anybodys mouse before your get it working anything like google\'s adwords.

I thought I was the only one having issues with the speed. I like MSN Adcenter, but WOW... it\'s entirely too slow! I feel like I\'ve wasted 10 minutes of my day before I get to any campaigns. Then having to click another button to edit it? Crap. I like AdCenter but tend to stay away now due to the speed of the system.

Poor usability. Slow interface. Reporting features are decent at best. But still drives marginally targeted traffic and provides a adequate return.

SLOW Interface. If this is the killer app for .net let's pray they have something else in the works. Speed it up MS or give up. Very frustrating to use. Had to signup 3 times before it took.

Couldn\'t even sign up with them as they don\'t cater for people who don\'t use credit cards and wish to pay with a debit card (uk) instead........RUBBISH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Pretty poor. The interface is so appallingly complicated, and lacking in basic data, that I really can't even be bothered to port my Google campaigns across!

MSN Adcenter needs help! I have contacted them both by phone and email support trying to find out what is wrong. (SLOW INTERFACE) They tried to be helpful, but no help. If you are working with large campaigns forget it.
